Pathaan Movie Review
Pathaan Movie review.
Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
Hey, its Nosheen. Today I am going to talk about the movie Pathaan. This is a spoiler-free movie review. It's a hot topic this week, so I decided to talk about it.
let's quickly recap the movie before we talk about our movie. Movie summary or just a quick one liner. King Khan was gone for a while and wanted to come back and yes he is strong and he wanted to be strong and he wanted to make it bombastic and he succeeded. Bringing us all the wonderful things we love about Shahrukh Khan in this bombastic, huge action flick. All the sharkconisms and supported by an amazing cast really worked for everyone. This is a very special one-liner. I thought about it for a long time, I wanted to say bombastic and I said it. So, there we have it, it was a bombshell film made better by Shahrukh Khan. We can see this with the house pack. By the way, it was fun, I really enjoyed it. It was my dream to go to the first evening screening of an Indian film and feel the atmosphere of Indian style.
People screamed and cheered when Shahrukh Khan appeared on the screen and everyone was like whoa. I was like oh that's why they do the hero shot. It makes a lot of sense when you're watching it in a packed house and it's like the wind is in his hair and you know part of my brain is going where it's going but then there's the other part that looks great yeah when I was watching this.
It just keeps going forward. It's like Mission Impossible, James Bond, Fast and Furious, XXX and all those things combined. It's like a producer asking Shahrukh Khan which American franchise you wanted to emulate. I'm just going balls to the wall and saying that everything is becoming this MarvelCinematic Universe. They put some references in there and that was fun to hear. For me, action is one of the things that always makes me wonder how the action will be done in an Indian film. When I see the trailer because a lot of times the trailer sells and then I get to the movie and I'm like oh it's really like over edited. I can't keep up with what's going on, this was one of the few times the movie met the promises of the trailers that made sense. There were many examples where I was like really good choreography, very well shot.
Well put together, I was quite interested in who was behind the scenes of the fights because it was one of the few times I was like you, this is something I can go to see my friends who work in the stunt industry. . It was like the sequence where Shahrukh Khan and John Abraham are facing each other on top of a vehicle, and that was one of your smaller ones, but I still enjoyed it.
There were three main three main fights in the movie that I can think of off the top of my head. There's a lot of action, but there are three really standout fight scenes. This was one of them precisely because of its scale. Ambition and what if you look at all three of those fight scenes, maybe there's four, but maybe if you look at all of them, they all feel different and that's great that they don't all feel exactly the same. They all feel like they each have their own character and thought process and design. It's a lot based on your environment and ingenuity in combat, in things. In general, I'm used to seeing either like super super high level American stuff like Marvel like Shang Chi or something like John Wick exactly like what I consider high level or The Matrix.
But here we are actually getting it in Indian cinema and that excites me because like the only other movie i can think of where you could see something like this is john abraham's rocky hot or in RRR where the fight scenes are actually pretty good. I mean, I put together the best I could for the Indians Kick-Ass music video, but sometimes there are a lot of moments where I was like, oh my god, this is so good. I was as happy as if there was a train I was kidnapped from. The train sequence was so good. Obviously I'm not going to tell you what happened, but like that train sequence was one of my first half. I would say this was one of my favorite sequences in the entire movie. The way it came together. I thought Shahrukh Khan did a fantastic job. They did a great job of pairing up between Shahrukh Khan and whoever is his stunt double who did a fantastic job with the people involved in making his stunt double look like him did a great job. It looked like him whenever he was doing somersaults and stuff, I would have thought it was him because part of my brain was like a shower Khan trained really really hard for that, somersaults to somersaults. I bought it now, probably did my own somersaults, but maybe it doesn't spin. I don't know, I will say that the action definitely stood out in this movie.
The story was at this level only because I kind of felt it in the middle of the movie. All the exposition and stuff and a lot of flashbacks, but I think it was just the sheer talent of the actors involved that saved it. Whenever Khan has been on screen, he's a superstar and we love him, he's magnetic and has so much charisma, but every time he's been on screen, I just love it. every movie, very amazingly grounded.
I thought John Abraham was such a good villain. I really enjoyed watching him, on the verge of being a mustache twirling villain, but I liked that it came especially towards the last part of the movie. It's going to be kind of fair, but I thought he was fun as a villain just because he was so formidable. For a long time, it seemed like he was going to beat this guy because he was a toad. They go together from toe to toe and are
both equally bad, that's what's great about this movie is the setup. The setup is very, very strong in this movie because it basically says you take the best of The Bad and The Best of the good and put them head to head, and that's a great setup.
That's what I can say about it without spoilers.
